Is your drinking problematic or dangerous? 


Answering these questions will give you an idea if your drinking is problematic or dangerous.  

The test is a simple yes or no questionnaire.

The questions:

  1. Do you have time off work due to drinking?
  2. Is drinking jeopardising your job or income?
  3. Is drinking affecting your relationships in your home life?
  4. Do you drink because you are shy?
  5. Is drinking affecting you reputation both personally or professionally?
  6. Have you gotten into financial difficulties as a result of drinking?
  7. Have you ever felt remorse after drinking?
  8. Have you ever borrowed, stolen or sold items to raise money to purchase alcohol?
  9. Have you changed your group of friends due to your drinking?
  10. Does your drinking make you careless of your family's welfare?
  11. Has your ambition decreased since drinking?
  12. Do you crave for a drink during the course of the day?
  13. Do you feel like you want a drink the next morning?
  14. Does drinking cause you to have difficulty in sleeping?
  15. Has your efficiency decreased since you started drinking?
  16. Do you drink to escape from worries or troubles?
  17. Do you drink alone?
  18. Have you ever had a complete loss of memory as a result of drinking?
  19. Has your doctor ever treated you for a drinking related problem?
  20. Does your drinking build up your self-confidence?
  21. Have you ever been to hospitalised on account of drinking?
  22. Have you ever experienced shaking, sweating, nausea and anxiety or even abject fear when you have not had a drink.

   

If you have answered yes to TWO questions you are a problematic drinker.

 

If you have answered yes to THREE or more of these questions you have an alcohol addiction that needs treating.  

The more yeses you have given, the bigger your alcohol problem might be.
